WICHITA, KS – Police have charged a woman with murder after they say she decapitated her ex-boyfriend’s mother.
According to police, 63-year-old Micki Davis and her 9-year-old grandson went to the home of 35-year-old Rachael Hilyard to pick up some property that belonged to Davis’ son.
And altercation between the two women occurred in the garage, leading to Hilyard attacking Davis with a knife. The young boy ran out of the home and grabbed his grandmother’s cell phone from her truck to call police.
Officers arrived at the scene and checked inside the garage when they couldn’t get anyone to open the door. That’s where they would find Davis’ decapitated body.
They would then find Hilyard hiding inside the home and take her into custody. She’s currently booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on $200,000 bail, facing a charge of first degree murder.
Hilyard has a long history of drug related convictions and, according to a neighbor, looked like she had been “run through a wringer” over the last couple years.
As for why Davis was there to pick up property from a drug-addled whackadoo and not her son, it’s because her son is currently in the same jail as Hilyard after a police chase last month.
If there can be any silver lining to be found, it’s that the boy was not harmed (physically) and did not witness the actual killing of his grandmother.
